Life Legacy


Harold Guy Banghart, 84, of Yalesville and Orlando, Florida, died Friday May 17, 2013, at Masonicare of Wallingford after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Eileen McParland Banghart for 62 years.

Born in Mine Hill, NJ, March 30, 1929, a son of the late Harold and Elvira Annunziato Banghart, he had been a Wallingford resident for over 60 years. He was a graduate of the Bronx Vocational High School, Bronx, NY, and had been employed as a lithographer in Milford. He and his wife also had been the proprietors of the Paramount Package Store in Meriden. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He was a member of the Wallingford Lodge of Elks, the Moose Lodge of Wallingford, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Meriden. He was an avid card player and wherever there was a card game, he was there, his favorite pastime. He enjoyed his home in Florida during the winter months, returning to Connecticut to enjoy the summers. He and Eileen loved to travel, visiting many places around the world. They went on 41 cruises together, their favorite way to travel.

Besides his wife Eileen, he is survived by his son, Thomas Banghart of Cheshire; his daughter Eileen Post and her husband Robert of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Harold Banghart of Arizona, Angela Cook and her husband Craig, of California, Robert Post of Meriden, and Eileen Post of Tolland; his great-grandchildren, Riley Banghart, Jamaica Cook; his brother and sister-in-law Peter McParland and his wife Eileen of Orlando, FL; his son-in-law Al Peluse of Wallingford, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Harold Banghart and William Banghart, and his daughter, Susan Peluse, and 9 sisters and brothers.

The family would like to thank the staff of the MidState Medical Center and Masonicare of Wallingford for the wonderful care and support that was provided to Harold and his family.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main St., Yalesville section of Wallingford, Monday, May 20, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from The Yalesville Funeral Home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11 a.m. were a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Harold's memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. 417005, Boston, MA. 02241-7005.
