Biography

George Richard Austin Jr., 82, of Marc Dr., Wallingford, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Skyview Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Dolores Seligman Austin.

He was born in New York City, March 26, 1928, a son of the late George R. Austin Sr. and Grace L. Albrizio Austin and was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He had been employed by the United Nuclear Corporation in Montville until his retirement and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. George was a member of the East Haven Gun Club and was passionate about wood carving, model planes and model trains. He was also quite interested in medieval times and enjoyed riding his motorcycles.

He is survived by his two daughters, Susan A. Duchesne and her husband David of Berlin, and Linda Ruth Austin Hall of Rhode Island.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment in Maple Grove Memorial Park in Easton will be private.
