Life Legacy
William Thomas Platt Sr., 78, of Thorne Hollow Rd., Cheshire, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Masonicare Health Center after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Thompson Platt.
He was born in New Haven, May 6, 1931, a son of Thomas W. and Elaine Kalkiewicz Platt and had been employed for many years by the Stanley Judd Company, Newell and retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He was a parishioner of Church of the Resurrection.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by his four children, William Platt Jr., and his wife Wendy of North Haven, Karen Ripa and her husband Scott of Wallingford, Lynn Lyman and her husband William of the Bahamas, and Bradley Platt and his wife Cathleen; his grandchildren, Kelly and Adam Ripa, and Carol and Stephanie Michalak; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Robert Jones of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Brian Platt; and his two sisters, Romona Szwejbka and Helen Matthews.
His family would like to thank the staff of A.C.U. and Ramage 2 and 4 of Masonicare for the compassionate care that they provided.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Wednesday, March 10, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
