Biography

Maria Hanczaruk Skorzewski, 85, of Franklin Street, Wallingford, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved wife of the late Boleslaw “Bennie” Skorzewski for 60 years.

She was born in Ukraine, August 5, 1924, and had been employed at the Stanley Judd Company for many years. Maria was a parishioner of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, John B. Skorzewski Sr. and his wife Mary Ellen (Murphy) of Wallingford, and Thaddeus and Alicia Skorzewski of Arizona; her four grandchildren, Nicholas Skorzewski and his wife Patricia of Colorado, Thaddeus Skorzewski Jr., of Arizona, Paul Skorzewski and his wife Michelle of Florida and John B. Skorzewski Jr., and his wife Taryn of Wallingford; and one great grandchild, Thaddeus S. Skorzewski III.

Her family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of Pavillion D at the MidState Medical Center, especially nurses, Kristie and Amanda, for all the loving care given to Maria.

Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 28, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford, CT, 06492. Funeral services will be held on Monday, from The Wallingford Funeral Home at 9 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to SS. Peter and Paul Church in Wallingford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford.
