Marie A. (Shields) Stacy, 88, formerly of Mohawk Drive, Wallingford, died, Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Masonicare Healthcare Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Barnes Stacy, and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born in New Haven, December 17, 1921, a daughter of the late William and Catherine (O’Connell) Shields. Mrs. Stacy graduated from St. Raphael School of Nursing and was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Hospital of St. Raphael where she served as Night Supervisor. She later worked as a private duty nurse until her retirement. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and a member of the Wallingford Garden Club.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen S. and Frank C. Pearson of South Meriden, and Pamela J. and William T. Forte of Wallingford; her five grandchildren, Stacie J. Zelaya and her husband Mauricio of Southboro, MA, Colleen A. Pearson of Wallingford, Matthew T. Forte, Jeffrey S. Forte and Christopher J. Forte, all of Wallingford; her four great grandchildren, Nicolas M. Zelaya, Alexander M. Zelaya, Rebecca Zelaya and Evan Zelaya; and her lifelong friend, Ruth Hahn. She was predeceased by her brother, Rev. William Shields.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 7, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in The Yalesville Funeral Home, 386 Main Street Yalesville, CT 06492. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from The Yalesville Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
