Life Legacy


Albert P. Champagne, 82, beloved husband for almost 60 years of Evelyn “Lynne” Champagne, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a brief illness.

He was born in Meriden, April 9, 1927, a son of the late Adelord and Anna Banack Champagne, and had attended Horace C. Wilcox Technical School becoming a self made businessman, specializing in air-conditioning and refrigeration for 25 years. A jack of all trades and master of many, if it was broken, he tried his hardest to fix it and most of the time he succeeded. He enjoyed his home and yard work. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church and as a young man he served his country as an M.P. in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who took great care of his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Lynne, he is survived by Danny, Laurie, Shaaron and Gregg; his grandchildren, Eric, Stephen, Ashley and Kaitlyn; his sisters, Barbara and Mary; his brother, Edward; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Richard “Rickey”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, February 3, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
